ABOUT US
AWARE is dedicated to volunteering, promoting awareness and generating funds to support the needs of women and girls. We provide meaningful opportunities for our members to give back to the community by volunteering and raising funds with other community focused women.
AWARE was originally founded in New York City in 1992 by a group of friends who wanted to make a difference in the lives of women. In 2013, we added a Connecticut chapter. Currently, both chapters operate independently and collaborate when possible.
OUR MISSION
AWARE, Assisting Women through Action, Resources & Education, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to making improvements in the lives of women and girls in Fairfield County, New York City and worldwide.
Each year, AWARE partners with a new organization on a yearly cycle and supports the program’s mission via a three-pillar approach:
• VOLUNTEERING: Hands-on volunteer activities.
• FUNDRAISING: Hosting events to raise money for the cause.
• EDUCATION: Awareness-building programs to increase understanding within the community.
AWARE seeks to partner with nonprofits where our efforts can have a substantial impact.
AWARE is fiscally sponsored by FJC, a 501c3 public charity. As such, all donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.
